My discovery that the subjects and scenes of my street photography resonated strongly with my own emotional history and internal landscape constituted a significant creative breakthrough. The following body of work is entitled "headshots" made in 4x5 film materials and printed 20x16 inches. In this body of work, I focus centrally on my personal narratives. The disparate style of each portrait and the mixture of black and white and color photographs reflect the diversity of experience and mood I find within. The proposed exhibition of the images in one rectangular gallery space will create a unified self-portrait. Through self-portraiture, I am revealing and challenging stereotypical impressions of the human emotional experience. It is my hope that the photographs will inspire viewers to explore the competing and conflicting representations that constitute their own identities.
